The Support Services Centre of the Department of Finance – Government of Dubai (SSC)signed a service level agreement with Dubai International Financial Centre Courts to provide back office services with the objective to strengthen the partnership between both parties which will reflect positively on streamlining the operations and services provided.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the ( SSC) by H.E. Abdulrahman Saleh Al Saleh, DOF Director General - Government of Dubai with H.E Michael Hwang, Chief Justice – DIFC Courts in the presence of Mr. Mubarak Ahmed Al Shamsi the Director of the (SSC) and Mr. Mark Beer, Registrar - DIFC Courts.
H.E. Abdulrahman Saleh Al Saleh, DOF Director General - Government of Dubai emphasized the importance of providing ongoing support and continuous collaboration with the Dubai International Financial Centre Courts, highlighting that the objective of the agreement is to strengthen the cooperation between the two parties.
Speaking for DIFC Courts, H.E. Michael Hwang, Chief Justice said, :" DIFC Courts is fully appreciative of the collaboration between the DIFC courts and the SSC. DIFC Courts has recently been described as the world’s most advanced commercial court, and this has been achieved with the help of SSC. By working with them so successfully, we have been able to focus our resources on continuing to deliver world class justice.”
The (SSC) started its operations in 2008 and the number of entities served has increased to eleven (11) Government entities. The SSC’s objectives are to standardize and automate processes to enhance productivity creating an environment that helps Government entities to focus on their core business operations effectively. SSC is customer centric, focused on satisfying their customers through the continuous measurement of performance to enhance service levels. SSC’s services include accounting, finance, procurement, payroll and human resources.
The DIFC Courts is an independent court system set up in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) to provide English, common law with an internationally renowned bench of judges versed in commercial disputes, to ensure transparent and efficient justice in civil and commercial matters. The laws establishing the DIFC Courts are designed to ensure the highest international standards of legal procedure thus ensuring that the DIFC Courts provide the certainty, flexibility and efficiency expected by Court users.
An amended law in October 2011 from HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has now opened the DIFC Courts’ jurisdiction to businesses from all across the GCC region and beyond to provide the international business community with access to one of the most advanced commercial courts in the world.
